Sven Liebich

Sven Liebich is a German right-wing extremist. He is active nationwide and a key figure in right-wing extremist networks in and around Halle an der Saale. Liebich is active within die Nationalist Party NPD as well as the right-wing of AfD and the radical parts of the Querdenken movement.

Life

Sven Liebich runs the companies “Shirtzshop” and “Political Stickers” in Halle. He transferred his ownership of "Shirtzshop" to his sister.[1]

Right-wing extremism and crime

The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution (LfV) in Saxony-Anhalt named Liebich by name in its annual reports.[2]

In the 1990s, Liebich sold right-wing extremist music and paraphernalia. In 1998, his shop in Halle and his home were both searched by police as part of a nationwide police action against vendors of such music.[2] In 2000, Liebich was a member of the neo-Nazi network Blood and Honour, according to a record note of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.[2] Jochen Hollmann from the LfV Saxony-Anhalt told the Public Broadcaster MDR in 2020 that Liebich was agitating even then. He sees the greatest danger emanating from Liebich in his inciting other people to potentially engage in violence. The 2002 report on the protection of the constitution described Liebich as an "agitator" (Agitator) and a "rioter" (Aufstachler).[2][3]

Liebich's right-wing extremism includes the publication of the private residential addresses of political opponents and the organisation of rallies there. He has held rallies ("Monday demonstrations") on the market square of Halle every Monday, and registered them ahead until 2067.[4] Liebich participates nationwide in demonstrations of the NPD, AfD and other right-wing organizations or sometimes appears as a speaker.[5]

At a demonstration in December 2020, Liebich insulted the members of the "Granmothers Against Right-wings"-initiative in the harshest sexist way. According to a complaint, the Halle public prosecutor saw this as a legitimate means of political conflict.[4] By October 2019, the Halle public prosecutor's office was aware of over 200 cases against Liebich, they told the MDR.

Liebich sells right-wing extremist propaganda material commercially. Because he also slandered political opponents, a court case against him was opened in 2020. He had suggested that Renate Künast had approved consensual sexual intercourse with minors. With Martin Schulz he had given the impression that Schulz had demanded “re-education camps based on the GDR model” for AfD supporters. In September 2020, Liebich was sentenced to a prison sentence of eleven months for defamation and sedition by the Halle district court, which was suspended for three years. The judgment is not yet final.[6]

Social media

According to LfV Saxony-Anhalt, Liebich is active on various social media platforms and an active editor at „Halle-Leaks“ primarily as a "provocateur and conspiracy theorist". He comments on articles from the daily press "in an unreal, diffuse way," twisting facts so "that they fit into his own worldview". His regular videos and publications are also "partially punishable".[5]

Corona activist

As "Corona activist" Sven Liebich took an active part in Protests over COVID-19 policies in Germany and organized numerous demonstrations. He also took part in a demonstration on 21 April 2021 in Berlin. Liebich appeared repeatedly in violent riots in protests related to restrictions. In Berlin he posed in front of the memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe with Anne Frank's diary in hand and a yellow star on his sweater.[7]
