Number of retirements
Tamir holds the record for most retirements in active chess. First retirement in 1997, and then every 3 months. If you take the number of years Tamir has been active, without retirement periods, he has actually never played chess. This makes him the fastest player to reach GM. This achievement was noted in Ness Ziona's renowned international masterclass "Me and the Rest: A Gentle Introduction to Reitrement Training".
