Plot
The story revolves around a 70-year-old apartment and it's door in which the director's mother, Srbijanka Turajlić, is residing.[14]
For 30 years of her life, Mila and her mother Srbijanka were living behind a door that separated one room from another. Her mother Srbijanka lived there since she was two years of age. The apartment complex had seen the history as no other building had. It have seen from the divisions put in place by the Communists of Yugoslavia to the civil war in 1992 (in which the director's mother played a vital role as a political activist), as well the country's breakup, Kosovo War and another revolt. Despite the change of time, the door remained closed.

Neil Young of The Hollywood Reporter wrote "Accessible, informative and wryly humorous, the film uses Srbijanka's tastefully-decorated residence as a prism through which to view the woman, her turbulent times and the complicated history of the former Yugoslavia".[17]
Writing for Variety, Alissa Simon commented "Director Mila Turajlić examines Serbia's political history through the eyes of her activist mother in this engrossing doc"[umentary]".[18]
J. R. Jones of Chicago Reader said "This milestone turns out to be mainly a framing device, but inside that frame lies a family portrait rich in political history".[19]
According to Andrew Pulver of The Guardian, "Mila Turajlić trains her lens on her activist mother for a timely look at what it takes to fight against oppression".[20]
