Tiger Street Food Festival

The Tiger Street Food Festival is one most engaging food ceremony in Nigeria.[1] The festival was established out of the necessity to support the love of food, music, art and entrepreneurs in the street food business whilst celebrating the various flavours of the Tiger style through specially curated street food experiences over cold bottles  of Tiger beer.[1][2] The festival is being organised to attract the young, energetic and adventurous who are willing to uncage their tastes and passion.[3]

History

The first edition of the Tiger Street Food Festival was launched on December 2020 at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.[4] The festival is majorly sponsored by Tiger Beer, which is one of the product of the Nigerian Breweries plc. It displays the richness and variation contained in the diversity of street food while promoting dreams and passion.[5]

The 2021 First edition of the festival held in April at Cubana lounge, New Owerri, where it witnessed several Nigeria artistes like Bella Shmurda and Xbusta.[3] Followed by the street and club anthems played by the Djs, the festival accentuated the fineness of the culture of the Owerri people as well as food delicacies.[5]

The 2021 second edition of the Tiger Street Food Festival took place in July, 2021 and was held at IBB Square, Markudi, Benue State.[6][7] The Makurdi residents were entertained by several top artistes in Nigeria, such as Peruzzi, DJ Big N, DJ Tony, MC Smart, and Rapizo.[7][8][9]

Festivity

The Abundance of Food

The Tiger Street Food Festival features arrays of different food prepared by various food vendors such as Zhie’s cuisine, Annie’s Kitchen Events, Kitchen Chronicles, Maozy Foods.[1] There is abundance of food during the festival. Food vendors displays their recipes and homegrown concept in an atmosphere of camaraderie. Mobile restaurants in form of truck are present which adds more glamour combines with the modern and traditional kitchen.[6]

The Music

Top Nigerians artistes are usually present during the festival to add entertainment to the atmosphere that is already filled with lots of street food and refreshments.[3] They perform their top hit songs to get the attendees nodding their head and tapping their feet.[6][7]

The Art

The festival has become a platform where beautiful Tiger-inspired murals and street art such as graffiti art are showcased. Urban graffiti and neon paintings are usually displayed to give a much perfect background for the snapping of pictures by the people.[10]
