Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone

Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone are an American television writing, animation and production team at Warner Bros. Animation and formerly at Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Brandt was born on December 24, 1961, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Cervone on November 15, 1966, in Melrose Park, Illinois.

The duo are best known for doing various projects about Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, and Looney Tunes. They had also worked on Animaniacs, Duck Dodgers, The Looney Tunes Show, and various other projects. Brandt had also voiced Spike Bulldog in various Tom and Jerry direct-to-DVD movies.

Early life

Brandt was born on Dec 24, 1961 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as Christopher John Brandt while Cervone was born on November 15, 1966, in Melrose Park, Illinois as Anthony Joseph Cervone.

Career

Both Brandt and Cervone started their careers in 1991. Brandt was hired by StarToons' founder Jon McClenahan to help animate episodes for their series Tiny Toon Adventures. During their time, Cervone and Brandt both met each other and decided to work with each other. After Tiny Toons ended in 1992, Brandt directed 3 episodes of Animaniacs with them both serving as animation directors on Scooby-Doo! in Arabian Nights. Brandt also directed the 2000 short film, Little Go Beep focusing on Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner as children chasing each other.

They also directed all episodes on Duck Dodgers and in 2004, they directed the short Daffy Duck for President. They also were the developers, directors, and the supervising producers for several episodes of The Looney Tunes Show. Cervone was also the animation director for the 1996 film Space Jam while Brandt directed the animation on its sequel, Space Jam A New Legacy. Cervone also directed several State Farm commercials featuring the Scooby-Doo characters Shaggy Rogers, Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, and Velma Dinkley including the title character, Scooby-Doo.

Brandt and Cervone would direct several Tom and Jerry direct-to-video films such as Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale and Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse, also with other films having crossovers with the duo such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Sherlock Holmes. Brandt also directed the animation for an episode of Supernatural, which the episode was an crossover with the Scooby-Doo characters titled Scoobynatural. They also wrote and directed four Tom and Jerry Tales episodes which they also directed four Back at the Barnyard episodes and Brandt directed the 2005 short The Karate Guard, which was co-directed by one of Tom and Jerry's creator Joseph Barbera, which he died one year after the short aired in theaters.

Cervone went on to direct his feature directorial debut titled Scoob!, an film based on the Scooby-Doo franchise and was the first film of an Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe. It was released in 2020 and received mixed reviews. Cervone also voiced a ghost and Mr. Rigby. In 2021, Cervone announced that a sequel to the film was in development.
