Tropical Storm Fred
The name Fred has been used for a total of six tropical cyclones worldwide.
In the North Atlantic:
- Hurricane Fred (2009) – One of the strongest hurricanes on record in the southeast tropical Atlantic, only third known major hurricane east of 35°W.
- Hurricane Fred (2015) – The easternmost hurricane ever to occur in the tropical Atlantic, and the first one to move through the Cape Verde islands since 1892.
- Tropical Storm Fred (2021) – Made landfall in Hispaniola and then degenerated into a tropical wave, eventually regenerated and made a second landfall in the Florida Panhandle after regaining tropical storm strength.
In the Western Pacific:
- Typhoon Fred (1991) (T9111, 12W) – Category 2 typhoon that struck Hainan Island and Vietnam.
- Super Typhoon Fred (1994) (T9416, 19W, Susang) – Category 4 super typhoon that struck China, resulting in extreme storm surge combined with heavy flooding, amounting to over 1,000 fatalities and billions in damage.
In the Southwest Pacific:
- Cyclone Fred (1980) – Category 4 severe tropical cyclone, stayed out at sea.
