Valery Garkalin

Valery Borisovich Garkalin (Russian: Вале́рий Бори́сович Гарка́лин; 11 April 1954 – 20 November 2021) was a Soviet and Russian theater and film actor. He was awarded the People's Artist of the Russian Federation in 2008.[1] Garkalin was also a professor of GITIS.

Personal life

Garkalin married Yekaterina in 1978.[3] She died in 2009.[4] His Daughter Nika is engaged in theatrical production.[5] The son-in-law is an actor of the Theatre of Nations Pavel Akimkin. In 2012, the actor became a grandfather, Nika gave birth to son Timofey.

On October 2, 2021, the 67-year-old artist was hospitalized with COVID-19 in Kommunarka during the COVID-19 pandemic in Russia. At that time, the damage to his lungs was 75–85%. He died on November 20, 2021.[6]
