VideoKids

VideoKids were a 1980s Euro disco/Italo disco duo from the Netherlands, formed in 1984 and led by Peter Slaghuis, and Bianca Bonelli (born January 2, 1963 age 58). The band's members also had solo careers on their own such as Peter being a famous remixer, and Bianca having a solo single called "Je veux l'amour". They released two albums, The Invasion of the Spacepeckers in 1984 and On Satellite in 1985. All of their songs were produced and written by Adams and Fleisner and Tony Acardi.

The most notable aspect of the band is the fact that they were very popular yet short lived. They also had a mascot named Tico, who was a cartoon man with dwarfism, and had a yellow jumpsuit, a space helmet, and a drill on his back side functioning like an insect stinger. He also had the same laugh as Woody Woodpecker as his trademark. He was featured in their two music videos along with the real band members, so for that reason they were almost considered a virtual group. He is shown as smaller size and in better form in, "Do The Rap" than in "Woodpeckers from Space".[1] The Invasion of the Spacepeckers was released at the 1984 Midem music festival, and went on to sell 1.1 million copies.[1]

The song "Woodpeckers from Space" had been covered and remixed several times throughout history, such as a version by South African music artist Café Society, a cover by Spritney Bears in 2002, a posthumous remake in 2007, and a remix by Evelyn in 2012.

The song "Tico Tac" is the only cover version they did, originally by the Belgian synthpop group Polysix, from their album, Satellite.

VideoKids had received the Buma Export Award.[2]

Slaghuis died in 1991 in a car accident, Bonelli went virtually out of the public eye, and their music has not had any sales since that period. So the future is uncertain for this group.
