Wade Schalles

Wade Schalles is an American wrestler, who while representing Clarion University of Pennsylvania was an NCAA Division I champion in 1972 and 1973, winning the outstanding wrestler award in 1972.[1] He created unique wrestling maneuvers and was known for pinning a large percentage of his opponents. Schalles is an inductee of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.[2]


A 1969 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, he came to Clarion and wrestled from 1970 to 1974, graduating from Clarion with a secondary education degree in 1974. He served as an assistant coach at Arizona State (1976), assistant coach at South Dakota State (1977), Head Coach @ Clemson (1978-83), and Old Dominion (1983-85).[3]

Schalles is currently director of the Eagle Hawk Academy, a wrestling instruction school.[4] As well as being head coach of Scientific Wrestling. [5]
