West African Airlines

West African Airlines (IATA: WZ, ICAO: WSF, Call sign: n/a) was a scheduled passenger and cargo airline based in Cotonou, Benin. It operated regional flights, with an extension to Europe, using wet-leased aircraft. The airline was established in 2003, and started operations on June 29, 2003.

West African Airlines Boeing 727 leased from JAT Airways.

In 2004, the company went bankrupt.[1]

Services

International scheduled destinations included: Abidjan, Accra, Bamako, Bangui, Banjul, Brazzaville, Conakry, Dakar, Douala, Kinshasa, Lagos, Libreville, Lomé, Paris and Pointe-Noire and to Delhi and Bombay.

On 2004, one of their 727 plane crashes during the attempt to stop the plane due to pilot error and poor weather the plane hit the ran off the runway at 200 feet and crashes to a building at 50 knots only 30 of 150 people survived and 3 people on the ground died it was the worst crash in Benin history
