Who Watches the Watchman

Who Watches the Watchman is a video documentary put together by Ghanaian politician and businessman Kennedy Agyapong. The documentary was premiered on 27 June 2018 at the forecourt of the Kencity Media at the Zongo Junction at Madina in Accra, Ghana.[1] This documentary was the politician's response to the Number 12 exposé by the investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which documented corruption in the sports governing body of the country called the Ghana Football Association. With the exposé, Kennedy Agyapong sought to question Anas's method of investigation and put his recent exposé titled Number 12 under public scrutiny.[2]

Background

In his response to the Number 12 exposé, Kennedy Agyapong a public campaign against the investigative methods of Anas. As such, Who Watches the Watchman is an attempt to substantial his allegations of wrongdoing and corruption on the part of the award-winning investigative journalist. Following the Ghana Football Association cash gift scandal that was revealed in the Number 12 exposé and also resulted in the resignation of Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association. The video depicts a figure claimed to be Anas Aremeyaw Anas attempting to extort a sum of money from one Mohammed Hafiz Abdullah in order to cover up a gold scam Hafiz was involved in back in the year 2009.[3]

Reactions

Since the premiering of the exposé, Anas publicly denounced the allegations leveled against him by Kennedy Agyapong. In an interview delivered at the Starr FM on 30 June, Anas stated that he has never accepted bribe in his life.[4] He further went ahead to challenge anyone who claims otherwise to produce evidence and prove.[5]
