Overview

Ek Tha Tiger (2012)

Tiger (Salman Khan)   India's top spy and an officer for the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)  is forced to kill one of his men in Iraq for defecting to Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Tiger later poses as a writer in Dublin to observe a professor of Indian origin, Anwar Kidwai (Roshan Seth), who teaches at Trinity College and is suspected of sharing his nuclear weapons research with Pakistan. Tiger's partner, Gopi (Ranvir Shorey), accompanies him on this mission.

Tiger befriends Kidwai's caretaker, Zoya (Katrina Kaif), to gain access to his house, but the pair grow close. Tiger is later attacked, and fears his identity is compromised, which leads to Tiger publicly preventing a Luas train crash. Meanwhile, Tiger and Zoya come to know about their feelings for one another, but he discovers Zoya is an ISI agent tasked on the same mission as him. She refuses to commit treason, and Tiger eventually lets her go.

Tiger and Zoya meet at a United Nations meeting in Istanbul, and they decide to elope to Havana. Their respective agencies track them down after they foil an attempted robbery, and Zoya is arrested by the Cuban police. Tiger meets Gopi, stating Zoya will cooperate with RAW in exchange for her escape. Tiger and Gopi lead a team to intercept Zoya's prisoner transport convoy, but Tiger and Zoya flee Cuba together.

Sometime later, Tiger calls his boss, Shenoy (Girish Karnad), and informs him the pair will only return when Pakistan and India no longer need ISI and RAW. In the epilogue, several sightings of Tiger and Zoya are reported in Venice, Cape Town, Zurich, and London.

Tiger Zinda Hai (2017)

During a dark night in Iraq, an American journalist types a warning message to CIA before he is slaughtered by some ISIS (ISC) guards. While carrying a rally in Ikrit, ISC leader Abu Usman is shot in the arm by the Iraqi Army and taken to the city hospital. Abu Usman holds hostage of the Indian and Pakistani nurses and makes the hospital as his base. The US military decides to launch an airstrike at the city to kill Usman. Indian nurse Maria calls the Indian Ambassador to Iraq at the Indian Embassy in Baghdad, informing them about the incident.

8 years after the events of the previous film, Tiger and Zoya are revealed to have been leading a peaceful life, in a secluded place, away from the prying eyes of both the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Officially declared dead in the files of their respective agencies, Tiger and Zoya are now married and have a son, Junior.

The CIA gives RAW chairman Shenoy seven days of time to rescue the nurses, after which they will hold the airstrike. Shenoy feels that only Tiger would be able to rescue the nurses. Based on the clues available, Shenoy locates Tiger and Zoya in the snowy area of Innsbruck. Several days later, Tiger is briefed by Shenoy, who informs him about the abduction of the nurses. However, Shenoy only tells Tiger about the 25 Indian nurses held in Iraq. Though Tiger is reluctant at first, he sets to carry the mission after Zoya's insistence.

Tiger travels to Syria and assembles his own gang of RAW members consisting of Azaan, an expert sniper, Namit, an experienced bomb disposer and Rakesh, a hacker. They reach an oil refinery controlled by Al-Amir Baghdawi (Sal Yusuf), ISC's second-in-command, but face difficulty after the arrival of Firdauz aka 'Tohbaan' ('snake' in Arabic), who checks the workers. One day, Tiger rescues Hassan (Jineet Rath), a child who is sent by Usman as a human bomb. That night, Tiger and his gang set a controlled explosion in the refinery and pretend to get burned so that they are taken to the hospital.

En route, they are joined by ISI members Captain Abrar and Captain Javed. Zoya also comes along with Abrar and Javed and reveals to Tiger that along with 25 Indian nurses, 15 Pakistani nurses are held, hostage. Tiger then declares that ISI and RAW will work together to rescue the nurses. Meanwhile, Firdauz reveals that he is a secret RAW agent. They go to the hospital while Zoya leaves Tiger to first kill Baghdavi and his troops which she does with the help of some Syrian girls.

At the hospital, Rakesh poisons the food. On the day of the airstrike, Usman's troops are food poisoned. Tiger fights the troops but finds Usman with Zoya, which causes him to surrender. Tiger is tortured in a gas chamber but later escapes and rescues the nurses. Azaan dies during the fight. As they escape, Firdauz and Karan, who is also a RAW member and Shenoy's most trusted person, crashes an oil tanker which kills ISC members.

Tiger stabs and wounds Usman along with Sayem Noman in a fierce encounter and moves to rescue Zoya, who insists Tiger leave her for the sake of Junior. A missile, launched by American drones, blows the chamber. Tiger dresses everyone in the execution robes for a safe passage out of Ikrit. Javed raises Indian and Pakistani flags above the bus with the nurses keeping Azaan's promise while Firdauz takes Usman to a desert and shoots him.

One year later, Shenoy is called by Tiger from Greece. A flashback shows that Tiger broke the chain and rescued Zoya and escaped, knowing that RAW and ISI wouldn't leave them if they returned with the nurses. It's revealed that Tiger and Zoya have adopted Hassan. Though Tiger goes into hiding once again, he assures Shenoy that he will always be there for his country

War (2019)

A mysterious sniper is contacted by an aged secret agent, V. K. Naidu, based in New Delhi to kill a target, Farid Haqqani, from a distance. However, the sniper instead shoots Naidu and escapes. He is revealed to be former RAW agent Kabir Dhaliwal, considered one of the agency's best who has now gone rogue.

Shortly after, Kabir's former boss and RAW joint secretary, Col. Sunil Luthra, relays Kabir's betrayal to Defence Minister Sherna Patel, who calls for the agency to summon Khalid Rahmani, another RAW agent who was previously mentored by Kabir and is in full awe of the former mentor. Khalid is now assigned to eliminate Kabir and accepts the mission in order to protect the country's safety and to learn the actual reason why Kabir has gone rogue. A flashback shows Khalid's introduction to Kabir, who questions Sunil about Khalid's loyalty to the nation arguing that Khalid's father was a traitor to both the nation and to Kabir himself when he shot him. Khalid, who regards Kabir as his major inspiration, insists that he will serve his country, no matter what, and regain his family's honor.

After a successful mission in Tikrit, Iraq, Kabir takes Khalid to account after noticing that he has a blind spot in his right peripheral vision while aiming a weapon and orders him to leave his team for others' safety. Khalid explains that his father's reputation led to himself being injured in the right eye by school bullies when he was young and caused him the impairment. Kabir, however, accepts Khalid after seeing the love he expresses for his mother Nafeesa, his country, and seeing how he has proven his worth. Kabir inducts Khalid into his special forces team which consists of fellow field agents Saurabh, Prateek, Muthu, and Aditi. Kabir plans his next mission which is targeted at underworld don and terrorist leader, Rizwan Illiyasi. The team capture Illiyasi, but he reveals to Kabir that there is a mole in his team who is fully loyal to his terrorist cause. Killing Prateek and Muthu, Saurabh reveals himself as the mole; blinded by greed, he had accepted Illiyasi's offer of nearly $100 million to betray his country. An enraged Khalid chases after Saurabh, leaving Kabir to deal with Illiyasi alone. Kabir, who nearly succeeds in recapturing Illiyasi, is shot unconscious by Illiyasi's men. He wakes up in hospital a week later to find a severely injured Khalid, also recovering, who tells Kabir that he has killed Saurabh.

In the present, Khalid is nearly taken off the mission when an army officer, Lt Col. Jimmy Shroff, is murdered by Kabir. Khalid manages to find Kabir and learns that his next target is Dr. Utpal Biswas. Kabir is seen doting on a young girl named Ruhi. Kabir remembers about Ruhi's mother, Naina Verma, whom he had try to make a civilian asset. A flashback shows how Kabir started his relationship with Naina. Later, on learning the truth, she becomes mistrustful and hesitant to help Kabir but agrees for her daughter's sake. She is sent to spy on Illiyasi's associate, Firoze Contractor. Kabir, who has been in touch with Aditi, learns from her that among Illiyasi's many contacts is a plastic surgeon, Dr. Mallika Singhal. Realizing that Firoze is actually Illiyasi, Kabir rushes to Naina's aid but is too late to save her life. Illiyasi once again escapes after throwing Naina down from his flying helicopter, leaving Kabir shattered.

In the present, Khalid is unable to prevent Biswas from being killed by Kabir. Infuriated, he gives chase to Kabir, who escapes again. After Khalid tries to convince Sunil to give him one final chance, he is fired on a doubt that he might have joined Kabir secretly. Khalid traces Kabir through Ruhi and finds out that Kabir is actually targeting associates of Illiyasi, referred to as "Rook", "Knight", "Bishop" and an unknown "Pawn", and is on an undercover mission to recover a drive with a secret code that Illiyasi needs. Meanwhile, at Kabir's hideout, both of them are attacked. They fight off the attackers and make it to Aditi's wedding in Kerala, whereupon they recover the drive with the secret code that Illiyasi needs. However, after Kabir hands over the drive to him, Khalid poisons him with TTX while sharing a drink with Kabir on his boat. A flashback to the chase between Khalid and Saurabh reveals Khalid being shot dead by Illiyasi, following which Saurabh undergoes plastic surgery to disguise himself as Khalid, just like how Illiyasi had transformed into Firoze Contractor. On the boat, Saurabh reveals himself as the "Pawn" as he throws a poisoned and helpless Kabir into the river.

Saurabh returns to Illiyasi, who bases himself on a heavily armed icebreaker ship. Kabir, who was assumed dead by Saurabh, parachutes aboard, single-handedly assaults the ship and eliminates Illiyasi's army. He then confronts Saurabh, revealing that he had known that the latter was not Khalid, having seen him aim and shoot perfectly with his right side in a way which Khalid couldn't due to his impaired vision, and also for his choice to drink alcohol, which was considered forbidden by Khalid due to his religious beliefs. Hence, he had also acquired the antidote for the poison in his drink and put Aditi to spy on him. Deciding Illiyasi has become expendable, Saurabh shoots him dead in the confrontation and escapes. Kabir gives chase to Saurabh and overpowers him. After an intense and bloody fight in a derelict church, the church's dome collapses on Saurabh, crushing his face and killing him.

The intelligence agency honours Khalid posthumously for his sacrifice as he laid down his life in order to save his nation and team with his mother Nafeesa receiving an award from the Prime Minister on behalf. Kabir, who is still believed by the agency to be a traitor, spends time with Ruhi and feels proud of seeing Khalid and his mother getting the respect they actually deserved and continues with his next undercover mission after a brief conversation with Sunil, thus hinting at a sequel.
