Yon de Luisa

Yon de Luisa Plazas (April 7, 1970) is a Mexican president of the Federacion Mexicana de Futbol (FMF) since 2018. Prior to becoming President, he was Vice President of Televisa Deportes and President of Club America.[1] Luisa Plazas also represents México as the director for the United Bid 2026 FIFA World Cup Bids.[2]

Education

He obtained his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana and M.BA from the University of Texas, Austin.

Career

Before joining sports management, he worked in the finance sector for the Stock Exchange in Mexico City as general manager and the Banamex. He spent 15 years working within the sports organization in South America, during that time he was involved in managing soccer teams as an operating manager, participating in FIFA and CONCACAF events, serving as a general coordinator and was director for the local organizing Committee of the FIFA U17 World Cup in Mexico 2011.[3]

Luisa Plazas was elected unanimously by the FEMEXFUT Board during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Russia after serving as the Vice President of Sports for Grupo Televisa in Mexico City, the 2018 FIFA World Cup official broadcaster. He was responsible for all sports programming and broadcasting for the Televisa Deportes on Open Air TV, TDN, Estadio Azteca and Club America.[4]
