Zhang Lida

Zhang Lida (Chinese: 张丽达; pinyin: Zhang Lida; born February 6, 1955) is a Chinese contemporary classical music composer.[1][2] She works with symphony, concerto, and chamber music, opera, oratorio, stage music, film music and electronic music. She is also a painting artist and writer.

Many symphony orchestras have performed her works,[3] including China Symphony Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Central Opera House Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, China Women's Philharmonic Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, Beijing Quartet, Naples Radio Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Concert Hall Festival Orchestra, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Changsha Symphony Orchestra, Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra, Liaoning Symphony Orchestra, Heilongjiang Symphony Orchestra etc. Almost all Chinese symphony orchestras have performed her works except for Tibet and Xinjiang. There are also many soloists who have performed her works.

Biography

Zhang was born in Beijing and her ancestral home in Hunan. Shi is a Chinese contemporary women composer. After the Chinese Cultural Revolution in 1977, she is one of the first batch of resumption of the college entrance examination was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music. She graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in 1983. After graduation, she became the permanent composer of the Beijing Central Symphony Orchestra. Since 1996, she has held a premium professor position in the Composition Department of Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, and has been teaching as a postgraduate tutor in composition. Zhang is a member of the Chinese Musicians Association and a member of the International Women in Music Honor Committee.
