Zoe Jakes
Zoe Jakes is a prominent belly dancer and founding member of the American experimental world fusion and electronic music group Beats Antique.

Career
Jakes began belly dancing around 2000, and her first teacher was Rosa Rohas, who encouraged her to study with Katarina Burda in San Anselmo, where she truly began her dance training. Zoe started in dance with Ballet, Tap and Jazz as a little girl, but quit in her teenage years as she was more drawn to drawing and sculpting, and her rebellious nature disconnected her from dance until her early twenties. She is known for her own particular style of fusion bellydance which includes heavy theatricality and fantasy elements. She was a member of the Suhaila Dance Company in the early 2000's, created by Suhalia Salimpour, and to this day her technicality and dedication to training reflect this. [1] In 2005, she began dancing and touring with Bellydance Superstars, and in 2007, she was nominated for Best Interpretive Artist by Zaghareets Magazine.[2] She has performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo festivals, and has toured with Yard Dogs Road Show and the Extra Action Marching Band[3]
She is extremely focused on dance and between training on her own, taking classes from other dancers and teaching classes herself, dances anywhere from 2-7 hours a day.[4]
Zoe created a dance format called DanceCraft in 2014, a highly technical training format that helps students become strong dancers and artists, and hundreds of dancers around the world are now part of this program.
