- February 20: In The Simpsons episode Angry Dad: The Movie Nick Park, creator of Wallace and Gromit, is special guest voice.[2]
- February 27: 83rd Academy Awards:
- Toy Story 3 by Lee Unkrich wins the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The song We Belong Together by Randy Newman from the same movie wins the Academy Award for Best Original Song.[3]
- The Lost Thing by Andrew Ruhemann and Shaun Tan wins the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.[3]
March
- March 13:
- The first episode of BoBoiBoy is broadcast.[4]
- In The Simpsons episode A Midsummer's Nice Dream Cheech and Chong are special guest voices.[5]
- March 22: The film Rio is released.[6]
- March 23: Series creator Genndy Tartakovsky leaves Cartoon Network Studios and moves to Sony Pictures Animation, as Cartoon Network began to decline, leaving Sym-Bionic Titan canceled after 20 episodes.
- March 26: The first episode of Larva is broadcast.[7]
April
- April 1: Illumination releases their only hybrid film, Hop.
May
- May 1: The first episode of Raa Raa the Noisy Lion airs.[8]

- The film Kung Fu Panda 2 premiers.[12]
- In The Simpsons episode The Ned-Liest Catch Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel become romantically involved, ending on a cliffhanger whether they'll stay together or not?[13] Viewers are invited to vote over the matter. On September 25, at the start of the new season, the next episode The Falcon and the D'ohman reveals that they have indeed become a couple at popular viewer's request.[14]
June
- June 1:
- Peter Dodd's Freddy Frogface premiers.[15]
- Joann Sfar and Antoine Delesvaux' The Rabbi's Cat is released, based on Sfar's graphic novel of the same name.[16]
- June 18: The Walt Disney Company and Pixar release Cars 2, to mixed-to-negative reviews, the lowest rated Pixar-film. .[17]
- June 27: Nickelodeon launches a revival of Winx Club with a one-hour special.[18]
- Specific date unknown: Dutch animator Rosto's The Monster of Nix is released, a mixture between live-action and animation, with the voices of Tom Waits, Terry Gilliam and The Residents.[19]

- July 15: Winnie the Pooh is released as the last traditionally-animated Disney film, before completely switching to Computer animation.
- July 17: Goro Miyazaki's From Up on Poppy Hill premiers.[20]

- August 31: After 11 years the final episode of Between the Lions is broadcast.
