2021–22 Newport County A.F.C. season

The 2021–22 season is Newport County's 33rd season since being reformed and their ninth consecutive season in the fourth tier of English football. Alongside League Two, they will also compete in the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the EFL Trophy and the Welsh League Cup. The season covers the period from 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2022.

Managerial changes

On 1 October 2021, manager Michael Flynn stepped down after four-and-a-half years service at the club.[1] Flynn's assistant manager Wayne Hatswell stepped up as caretaker manager until the appointment of James Rowberry as team manager on 19 October 2021. Hatswell was retained as assistant manager to Rowberry.[2]

Pre-season friendlies

The Exiles confirmed they would have friendly matches against Undy,[3] Blackpool,[3] Chippenham Town,[3] Cinderford Town[3] and Cardiff City[3] as part of their pre-season preparations.

Matches

Newport County's fixtures were released on 24 June 2021.[5] On 7 July, the fixture dates against Mansfield Town were reversed due to pitch renovation work at Newport's Rodney Parade ground during August 2021.[6]
