With the last edition held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is expected that the film entries will be screened to live audiences in cinemas after community quarantine measures in the Philippines were relaxed.[1][2] Entries in the 2020 edition were made available through online streaming since cinemas were closed and not allowed to operate (with the exception of select cinemas in modified general community quarantine).

Entries

The number of entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival returned to eight for the 2021 edition.[1] In the previous edition, the number of entries were temporarily expanded to ten since the 2020 edition was held virtually.[3] The deadline for entries were set on October 31, 2021.[4] There were 19 film submissions.[1][5] The eight entries were announced on November 12, 2021.[1]
