2021 Supercoppa Italiana

The 2021 Supercoppa Italiana (branded as the Supercup Frecciarossa for sponsorship reasons)[1] will be the 34th edition of the Supercoppa Italiana, the Italian football super cup. It will be played between Internazionale, winners of the 2020–21 Serie A championship, and Juventus, winners of the 2020–21 Coppa Italia.[2] On 11 November 2021, it was announced that the match would be played on 12 January 2022 in San Siro, Milan.[3]

Background

This will be the second Derby d'Italia in the Supercoppa, after the 2005 edition. Internazionale will be making their tenth Supercoppa Italiana appearance, and first since they lost the 2011 game to Milan. They have a 5–4 record. Juventus will make their tenth consecutive appearance, and 17th overall. They have a 5–4 record during this run, and are 9–7 overall. The teams have met only once, in the 2005 edition, where Internazionale won 1–0 in extra time.[2]
