42nd Brit Awards
The 2022 Brit Awards, presented by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), will be held on 8 February 2022 to recognize the best in British and international music. The ceremony will take place at The O2 Arena, London and will be hosted by Mo Gilligan.[1]

The nominations will be announced on 18 December 2021, in a television special named The Brits Are Coming, the special will be hosted by Clara Amfo and Maya Jama.[2]

Pre-show
Category changes
In November 2021, the Brit Awards announced that they would be removing gendered categories from all future ceremonies. As a result, the following new category will be presented at the 42nd Brits:[3]
- British Artist of the Year (replaces British Male Solo Artist and British Female Solo Artist)
In addition, five additional categories were revived and renamed from previous Brit Award ceremonies in order to recognize this change:
- International Artist of the Year (reformed after originally presented between 1986 and 1993 before being split into International Male Solo Artist and International Female Solo Artist)
- British Alternative/Rock Act (originally presented as British Rock Act between 2004 and 2006)
- British Dance Act (originally presented between 1994 and 2004)
- British Hip Hop/Rap/Grime Act (originally presented as British Urban Act between 2003 and 2006)
- British Pop/R&B Act (originally presented as British Pop Act between 2000 and 2006)
