Anand Mishra

Anand Mishra(64 RR) is a 2011 batch IPS officer[1] of Assam-Meghalaya Cadre from Bihar, who is currently serving as the Superintendent of Police in Nagaon district of Assam.[2][3]

Personal Life

Anand Mishra was born in Kolkata in 1989 but originally belongs from Bhojpur District of Bihar.[2][7]

Anand has completed his all sort of education from West-Bengal. After completing his education he did a government job from 2005-2010 until clearing UPSC exam.[2]

In an interview Mishra mentioned that he had decided to be a police officer when he was in 8th standard.[2][8]

Mishra secured AIR of 225 in the UPSC CSE 2010 and choosed Indian Police Service.[9]

Police Career

Meghalaya Segment

After completing his training, Mishra served at various posts in Meghalaya from 2013 to 2017 until his posting in Assam segment.[2][10]

During his tenure of 4 years, He had served as Sub-divisional Police Officer, Addl. SP (Operations), Superintendent of Police in East, South and West Garo Hills of Meghalaya.[10]

He was actively involved in the various Counter Insurgency Operations in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya, such as Operation Hill Storm 1 and Operation Hill storm 2 and many more.[10][4]

He was also awarded the President's Police Medal (gallantry) for his extraordinary courage and gallantry in various C.I.O's.[10][4]

Assam Segment

Mishra was transferred to Assam segment of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre in 2017.[2]

He has served as Superintendent of Police in various districts of Assam. Such as, Charaideu, Dhubri and Currently in Nagaon.[11][3][12]

On 15th of May 2021, People of Dhubri Prostested against the government's decision of Anand Mishra's transfer from Dhubri to Nagaon, during the major reshuffle by the new government in 2021.[13][14][15]

After taking charge as S.P. of Nagaon, he was also the In-charge of Anti-drug squads of Nagaon district against the illegal drug rackets.[16]

Controversy

In June 2021, Ramen Deka, Former M.P. of Lok Sabha (of BJP) demanded a NIA probe against Mishra, through his tweet, claiming his popularity is artificial.[17][8]
