Autry Technology Center

Autry Technology Center was founded in 1967 in the city of Enid,[1] as one of the five original vocational technical schools in Oklahoma.[2] It is now one of 29 CareerTech schools across the state.[1] It provides 25 full-time career training programs for high school students and adults with five Advanced Medical programs.[2] It offers comprehensive services to more than 500 business and industry partners, offering not only 5,000 different classes, but also customized training as needed by its partners.[2] The James W. Strate Center for Business Development has been opened to help new entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses.[2]

The school opened as the O.T. Autry Area Vocational Technical Center, named after Otwa Tilden Autry, who served as the first superintendent through the Enid School System.[1] In 1993, the Autry Technology Center name was officially adopted for marketing purposes.[1]

The Autry Technology Center district serves some or all of the Billings, Chisholm, Cimarron, Covington-Douglas, Drummond, Enid, Garber, Hennessey, Kremlin-Hillsdale, Mulhall-Orlando, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale, Pond-Creek Hunter, Timberlake, and Waukomis school districts.[3] The population served is 62,817 based on 2010 census data.[4] Enrollment averaged 24,380 students annually from the 2016-2017 school year through 2020-2021.[4]

Autry has a Main Campus, as well as the Autry Woodring Campus which accommodates industrial training programs, seven classrooms and the youthful offender welding program.[5] Autry also offers a number of on-line courses.[6] It is accredited by the Oklahoma Board of Career and Technology Education and the Oklahoma Department of Education.[7]
