Axel Kei

Axel Kei (born December 30, 2007) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for American club Real Monarchs. Born in the Ivory Coast, he moved to the United States at a young age and has attended USA youth national team camps.

Club career

A member of the Real Salt Lake since 2020,[1] Kei won the MLS Next Cup U15 Golden Boot on July 13, 2021, in their winning campaign at the MLS Next Cup.[2] On October 8, 2021, he debuted with the Real Monarchs in a 0–0 USL Championship tie with Colorado Springs Switchbacks, coming on in the 61st minute. Kei's appearance at the age of 13 years, 8 months and 9 days made him the youngest professional athlete in American team sport history.[1]

International career

Born in the Ivory Coast, was raised in Brazil, Kei moved to San Diego in 2017.[1] He was called up to a training United States youth training camp in February 2019.[3]
