History
In India television service name was introduced as Doordarshan. First telecast started in India in 1965. First it was with Aakashbani later in 1976 it became independent as Doordarshan. In 19 Nov 1982, in Guwahati first telecast of Doordarshan was successfully setup and programme in Doordarshan was telecast successfully. First they used to telecast program from Delhi in 24 march, 1985. They independently produce programme from Assam,Guwahati and telecast to it's views. First they telecast from Guwahati on 24 march,1985 news in Assamese to it's viewers. The lucky news reader was Pratap Bordoloi. They have now 30+ substation to telecast programmes from Assam to relay programmes to it's viewers. They have their own studios in Guwahati and in Dibrugarh to telecast programmes successfully to it's viewers. 23 August 1990, from Guwahati Doordarshan Kendra started telecast programmes for entertainment purpose. Assam Doordarshan can reach almost 83% population penetration from Assam and can reach almost 79% on its total land surface in Assam.
