Department of the Navy Police
The United States Department of the Navy Police (a.k.a. US Navy Security Forces, US Navy Police or DON Police) is the civilian law enforcement programme of the U.S. Navy, in that it provides professional, civilian, federal police officers, to serve and protect the US Navy community.

It works alongside the active duty personnel of the U.S. Navy Master-at-arms (naval military police).
Duties
The DON Police carry out the following duties:
- law enforcement,
- force protection,
- physical security
and antiterrorism missions.[2]
Uniform and Equipment
DON Police officers wear a dark blue uniform, similar to other DOD Police officers. There is generally a formal uniform and an everyday/operational uniform.
Formal uniform
The formal uniform is:[3]
- Dark blue shirt
- Dark blue trousers
- Campaign hat
- Duty belt
- Black boots/shoes
- White gloves.
Some local variations exist.
Everyday/Operational Uniform
The uniform worn for daily police duties, varies according to duties, weather & climate, location and rank.[4]
It consists of:
- Dark blue shirt
- Dark blue trousers
- Black boots/shoes
- Jacket/coat
- Peaked cap or ball cap
- Traffic vest
- Body armour
- Duty belt
