He joined his parents, who left their country, Guinea, in the Parisian suburbs in France in 1989. "I didn't want to go to France", he explains. His parents lived at this time in Chennevières-sur-Marne, in Val-de-Marne.

In 2002, he joined the Sexion d'Assaut group. On 10 November 2010, Baldé was tried for physical assault on his partner.[3] According to Le Parisien, the facts date back to 12 September and quotes a person close to the case who said about the rapper's girlfriend: "She was found in shock by the police. She explained that she had been hit on several occasions by her companion". "He would also have" insulted an official, during her transport to the police station of the 18th arrondissement. His friend did not want to file a complaint in the end, but the Paris prosecutor's office still decided to prosecute him.

In May 2012, the mixtape L'insomniaque Mixtape, mixed by DJ Uka, was released, featuring most of his verses plus a few unpublished ones. On 15 May 2013, during Planet Rap dedicated to him on Skyrock, Gims revealed that Doomams and JR O Crom were working on a joint album.[4]

In 2015, this album, entitled Vendetta and scheduled for 2016. The same year, on 26 August, Gims unveils, still on Planète Rap, a new song taken from his album Mon cœur avait raison, entitled "Uzi" featuring JR O Crom and Doomams.[5] At the end of 2015, Vendetta was announced for 4 March 2016.
