Expo 2027

The 2027 or 2028 BIE recognised world's fair will be a specialised exposition. As such it must be at most three months in length and illustrate a specific theme.[1] It could be held in 2027 or 2028.

Candidature

Malaga[2] and Minnesota[3] have indicated an interest in hosting this expo. Both Malaga's potential[4] and Minnesota's[3] submitted bids are for 2027.

The canidature list will close on 28 January 2022.[5]

Malaga

Expo2027 Malaga which would be called The Urban Era: towards the sustainable city[6] intends to focus on the UN's sustainability goals.[6] It would take place in the Buenavista area within the Campanillas district.[7] More information about this project: https://expo2027.malaga.eu/en/index.html

Minnesota

Minnesota had previously bid for Expo 2023 with Healthy People, Healthy Planet: Wellness and Well Being for All.[8]

The theme for this bid for 2027 is Healthy People, Healthy Planet[9] and would be held in Bloomington, Minnesota.[10] The expected number of visitors is 13.3 million.[10]

Minnesota formally submitted their bid on 29 July 2021.[5]
