Federalist Popular Alliance
The Federalist Popular Alliance was a right-wing political coalition in Argentina. It was formed in 1973 by Francisco Manrique aiming to present an alternative against statist ideologies for the Presidential election of that year. With Manrique as presidential candidate and Rafael Martínez Raymonda running for Vice-president, the alliance got 14,9% of the votes, positioning itself as Third force. The same candidates ran again for the September presidential election of 1973 and, although they stood at the third place, they were the only coalition that lost votes between March and September, getting a result of only 12,19%. The alliance dissolved after the Coup of 1976, when Manrique's Federal Party supported the Military Junta pledging for "the strengthening of the Republic and Democracy for a community living with dignity and freedom". Even so, it was the only political party that didn't occupy a charge during the dictatorship.[1]
