Owned by Fox Sports Pty Ltd, Fuel TV was launched in 2004 screening limited original content, UFC programming, Impact Wrestling and formerly aired Attack of the Show! and X-Play from G4 until the channel replacement rebranded in Janruary of 2013. It also showed live coverage of all ASP World Tour men's surfing events. It was also used as an "overflow" channel for Fox Sports Australia when all three main Fox Sports are being used for other obligations and they have a fourth, motorsport/extreme sport obligation, which gets shown on FUEL TV live, and delayed on Fox Sports.
For non-motorsport/extreme sport obligations, Pay-per-view channel Main Event was used to broadcast the program under the "Fox Sports Plus" banner, for no extra cost, to a Foxtel/Austar subscription.
It was evident that traditional Pay-TV and Free to Air TV was warning while other kinds of video entertainment, such as 24-7 streaming services, began to rise. Video streams online rose from more than 95.3 billion in 2008 to more than 104.3 billion in 2009 along with the introduction of a new category of internet-connected TV sets by Sony and Samsung.[2] Traditional TV viewership slowed, Fuel TV was rebranded as Fox Sports 2 in January 2013 and the action sports network now operates exclusively as an online streaming service. [3][4][5]
FUEL TV Australia and the Seven Network have signed an agreement that will see a 24/7 streaming channel running on the 7plus platform[6][7][8]
