Generation 1 (NASCAR)
The first generation of NASCAR cars began in 1948 when NASCAR was founded. Cars in the first era of NASCAR were nearly identical to the on-street models,[1] cars were strictly stock, as no modifications were allowed to body or frame,[1] and this was the only generation of NASCAR cars to have actual doors.[1] This generation was sunsetted in 1966 as it was the only generation without aerodynamics or a modified body, until they were added in 1967 when the second-generation cars took it's place.
