Gina Brillon

Gina Brillon (born April 7, 1980) is a Puerto Rican-American comedian, writer and actress.[1][2] Her career since 2007 has included a number of television appearances, including several television specials,[3] one of which won a Gracie Award in 2021. She came to national prominence when she appeared on the 16th season of America's Got Talent, and later went on to produce an online podcast.

Life and career

Brillon was born and raised in the Bronx, New York on April 7, 1980. She began her career as a stand-up comedian in 1997, and eventually conducted her first television performance in 2007. In 2012, she won a place on NBC's Stand-Up for Diversity Showcase,[4] and a year later took part in the Montréal Just for Laughs festival in 2013.[5] In 2015, she released her first comedy special, Gina Brillon: Pacifically Speaking, produced by comedian Gabriel Iglesias,[6] and released a podcast, Mess In Progress: A Homegirls Guide To Self-Help, which she co hosted with Katherine G. Mendoza.[7] She later made appearances on the CBS show Kevin Can Wait, ABC show The Conners, HA Festival: The Art of Comedy on HBO Max, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.[8][9]

Brillon released a second comedy special, Gina Brillon: Easily Offended, in 2019, and a third special, Gina Brillon: The Floor is Lava, in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video. In 2021, her The Floor is Lava special won a Gracie Award,[10] while receiving a nomination for an Imagen Awards.[11] She later auditioned for a place on the 16th season of America's Got Talent, where she was able to reach the finals,[12] but came in the bottom-five of that season's finalists.
