Giorgio Scalvini (born 11 December 2003) is an Italian footballer who plays as defender for Serie A club Atalanta.

Club career

Early career

Scalvini started playing football at Brescia at age of 10.[1] Then he has played for the Atalanta Youth Sector since 2015.[2] On 8 November 2021, Scalvini was called up for a Serie A match against Inter Milan from the first squad's manager Gian Piero Gasperini.[2] On 21 January 2021, Scalvini won the 2020 Supercoppa Primavera after a 3–1 win against Fiorentina.[2][3]

Atalanta

On 24 October 2021, Scalvini debutted for Atalanta in a 1–1 home draw against Udinese coming on as substitute in the 85th minute.[4]

International career

Scalvini represented Italy internationally at under-15,[5] under-16,[6] under-17,[7] and under-19 levels.[8]

He made his debut with the Italy U21 on 16 November 2021, aged 17, playing as a starter in a friendly match won 4–2 against Romania in Frosinone.

Style of play

Scalvini is a centre-back who has a good technique and good at headers with his height of 1.95 m (6 ft 5 in).[9] He has also been likened to Alessandro Bastoni.[2]
