Grid Legends

Grid Legends will offer more than 130 tracks to race on, ranging from real-life circuits like Brands Hatch and Indianapolis Motor Speedway to street circuits in various cities such as San Francisco, Paris, London, and Moscow.[1] The game will also feature more than 100 vehicles, including touring cars, semi-trailer truck, open-wheel car, stadium trucks, drift cars, or even electric vehicles to compete in arena ovals, on street circuits and off-road racing.[2] The same virtual set tech used in the American Space Western television series The Mandalorian is also harnessed the same.[3] For the first time in the series, players will be able to create their own races, including custom routes, obstacles, vehicle restrictions, and rules.[4]

Inspired by Netflix's documentary series Formula 1: Drive to Survive, the game will introduce a story mode, entitled "Driven to Glory".[5] Codemasters had previously opted to do so in F1 2021, named Braking Point.[6] In Grid Legends, however, the mode is confirmed to be much more narrative-focused, with a number of professional actors, including Ncuti Gatwa, who is known for the British television drama Sex Education, are expected to voice different characters in the game.[7] This means for the first time in the series, Nathan McKane, who has been a staple driver throughout the series, will be seen and heard.[8]

Grid Legends was announced at EA Play Live 2021.[9] It is the fifth video game of the Grid series developed by Codemasters and the first installment published by Electronic Arts.[10] In addition to be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms, the game is also set to come to the ninth generation of video game consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S for the first time in the franchise.[11] The game is currently scheduled to be released on February 25, 2022.[12]
