Habib Mohammed (footballer, born 1997)

Habib Mohammed (born 4 July 1997) is a Ghanaian footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ghanaian Premier League side Asante Kotoko.[1][2]

Club career

Early career

Mohammed Habib Jnr first kicked a ball at the age of 5 during his elementary school days but began his football career with Eleven Lions F.C. as either a number "8" or a number "10". At his tender age, he was touted as a prolific player due to his ability to exert energy in supporting defenders likewise starting an attack and also helping strikers when the need arises.

His nickname Thuram (a French retired professional football defender and the most capped player in the history of the France with 142 appearances between 1994 and 2008) was as a result of his powerful and tough tackling playing style.

Moulded in the form of Brazil and Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva, Habib possesses good techniques, vision, tactical intelligence, leadership qualities and he's powerful with the ball from a distance.

His exceptional performances captured the attention of many and was widely tipped to be one of the best players to come from Sunyani during his Inter Schools Tournament days at the Presbyterian Senior High School (Presec Bechem), Odumaseman Senior High School (ODASS) and Sacred Heart Senior High School (Sahess) respectively.

Habib played for a Second Division side Allah Koso FC, moved to Aston Villa FC and later joined a DOL side Bofoakwa Tano all in BA.

Ashanti Gold

On January 2017, Habib was transferred to Ghana Premier League club Ashanti Gold on a two-year deal.

Asante Kotoko

On January 2019, Habib signed for Asante Kotoko.[3][4]

International career

Youth

Habib was part of the Ghana U23 team played Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt.[5] He played 5 games and scored one.

Senior

Habib played a CHAN[6] qualifier against Burkina Faso and was included in the 2019 WAFU tournament held in Senegal.[7][8]
