The song is in the chanson style, popular in the early years of the contest. Brokken sings that she wants to tell the whole world "my secret", because she is happy. She wonders if perhaps the world is too busy to be happy, but this does not diminish her joy. Peculiarly, she never explains why she is happy. Brokken also recorded the song in French, as "Toi mon cœur, tu sais" (translated "You, My Heart, Know").
The song was performed second on the night, following Italy's Domenico Modugno with "Nel blu dipinto di blu" and preceding France's André Claveau with "Dors, mon amour". At the close of voting, it had received 1 point, placing 9th (equal last) in a field of 10. Until Austria's zero points in 2015, it was the lowest score of a host country's entry in the history of the contest.
It was succeeded as Dutch representative at the 1959 contest by Teddy Scholten with "'n Beetje". Corry Brokken returned to Eurovision in 1976 in The Hague, but that time as the host.
