Ineos Oxford Institute for AMR Research

The Ineos Oxford Institute for AMR Research (IOI) is a planned research institute at the University of Oxford. It initially focuses on designing animal-only antimicrobials,[3] conducting research on antimicrobial resistance, and raise awareness and promote responsible use of antibiotics.[4] It was founded by a £100m donation, one of the largest ever given to a UK University, from Ineos in 2021.[5][6][7] It will be based at the Oxford Department of Chemistry and its Life & Mind building.[8][9] Construction work on the building started in November 2021.[10]

Writing for The Guardian, columnist Catherine Bennet criticised Oxford University for accepting Ineos' benefaction despite its chairman Jim Ratcliffe's alleged tax avoidance and Ineos' environmental record.[11]
