The campus is located in the city of Herzliya, Israel, six miles north of Tel Aviv, on the grounds of a former Israeli Air Force base that served as the first fighter base during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, and then as the main Anti-aircraft warfare school until 1992.[17]

Reichman University has an Entrepreneurship Club where one can join a start-up accelerator.[18][19] Herzliya is a major start-up hub in Israel. Fledgling startups and giant multinationals settle down in Herzliya. To name but a few, Apple, Microsoft and IBM are headquartered in Herzliya. The environment for start-ups in Herzliya and Tel-Aviv is more than sufficient to ensure success.[20]

The first class at Reichman University consisted of 360 students. Over the years, leading professors from Israel and the US have joined the faculty, additional schools have been opened and the student body has grown to 6,500.

The Reichman University motto is “Liberty and Responsibility."[21] The school logo is based on the flag that Theodor Herzl, the father of modern Zionism, proposed for the Jewish state.

In 2012, Israel Chemicals helped to found the School of Sustainability, which will focus on environmentally conscious business development and entrepreneurship. Graduates will be awarded a BA in sustainability studies.[22]

The General Assembly of IDC Herzliya decided in June 2020 that the status of the college would be upgraded and the it would be renamed Reichman University; when the transformation was completed in the future, it would be the first private university in Israel.[8]

The status and title of university was officially granted by the Council for Higher Education in Israel in August 2021.[23]

The Herzliya Conference, hosted by the Interdisciplinary Center at Herzliya, is Israel's center stage for the articulation of national policy by its most prominent leaders, including the Israeli President, the Prime Minister, the IDF Chief of General Staff, and the leading contenders for high political office. Among the speakers of Herzliya Conference, Israel's foremost global policy annual gathering were French president Nicolas Sarkozy, NATO- General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen , US-Secretaries of State, Condoleeza Rice and Dr. Henry Kissinger, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and many more notable participants.[24][25][26][27]

Uriel Reichman, president and founder of Reichman University, holds a JSD from the University of Chicago and is the former dean of the Law Faculty at Tel Aviv University. Alex Mintz is the provost.[28] Amnon Rubinstein, chairperson of the Appointments Committee, is a former Israeli minister of education. Aharon Barak, president emeritus of the Israeli Supreme Court, is a member of the Higher Academic Committee and a lecturer at the Radzyner School of Law at Reichman University.

Reichman University offers degrees in law, business, government, computer science, communications, economics and psychology. It consists of the Radzyner Law School, Arison School of Business, Efi Arazi School of Computer Science, Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy, Sammy Ofer School of Communications, Baruch Ivcher School of Psychology, Tiomkin School of Economics, School of Sustainability Founded by Israel Corp., ICL & ORL, and the Raphael Recanati International School (RRIS).

Radzyner Law School at IDC

Approximately one quarter of the students on campus hail from outside Israel.[34] Reichman University students come from 83 countries to study at the Raphael Recanati International School. Reichman University students initiate, lead and participate in dozens of activities on behalf of the community, including legal aid clinics to help those of limited financial means; programs to mentor and tutor elementary-school pupils; activities for at-risk youth; the ensemble project in which students teach classical music in an underprivileged neighborhood in the city; and dozens of other volunteer initiatives that students launched on behalf of the weaker sectors of the community. Students are also active in a variety of clubs and performing arts groups.

In 2009, Alpha Epsilon Pi, an international Jewish fraternity, opened a branch at Reichman University, the first college fraternity in Israel.[35]

– The “Keren Or” program is an undergraduate degree track in computer science and business administration. The program is designed for young people with high academic potential whose socioeconomic circumstances have not enabled them to achieve the matriculation and psychometric scores necessary to be accepted into academic institutions. The program awards 40 undergraduate scholarships each year in two study tracks – business administration and computer science. Students accepted to the program receive funding for 90% of their tuition fees and full academic support in a track that includes preparatory courses, support classes and private tutoring. The program is intended for those who are economically disadvantaged and who have completed military or national service. Admission to the program is through a selection process that is not based on psychometric or matriculation scores, but rather examines each candidate’s academic potential. This academic screening is based on a five-day workshop during which candidates are asked to submit assignments and are tested on material they have studied. The program was established in 2001 by a graduate of the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science. Since then, the program has grown and developed, and in 2009 it had about 70 graduates who had entered the work force.

The laboratory was founded in 2009 with the aim of studying the process by which digital technologies are playing an increasingly active role in human life. The lab focuses on two main technologies, virtual and augmented reality, and its projects span human communication, neurophysiology, psychology, computer science, art, and collaboration with industry. The lab is led by Prof. Doron Friedman.

This center, headed by Prof. Ruth Feldman, was founded in 2018. At the center, researchers from various fields carry out interdisciplinary psychological and biological research on topics including hormones, genetics, epigenetics (the impact of the environment on genetics) and the gastrointestinal and immune systems.

This center, headed by Dr. Daphne Kopelman-Rubin, was founded in 2012. It is the product of the Baruch Ivcher School of Psychology and the Learning Disabilities Clinic at the Schneider Children’s Medical Center.

The Sagol Center was founded in 2009 and focuses on two areas – neuroscience and neuroeducation. The center is led by Dr. Nava Levit-Binnun.

The institute was established in 2013 as part of the Baruch Ivcher School of Psychology. The institute focuses on the contribution of the early therapeutic environment in the first year of life to the long-term development of the person, while deepening clinical and developmental knowledge in the field. The founder of the institute is Doris Arkin and its director is Yael Segal.

Named for Aaron Dovrat, this institute was founded in 2014. The institute is headed by Prof. Zvi Eckstein, dean of the Tiomkin School of Economics.

– Greenbiz is a program for green entrepreneurship. The program provides business and management tools that will serve students going forward – building a business strategy and business plan, creating an investor presentation, the decision-making process and more.

The Museum of Communications, located at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications, displays the development of communication devices in Israel and around the world from the beginning of the 20th century, in both broadcasting and print. Featured in the collection is a printing press donated to Israel Bak by Moses Montefiore in 1842, known as the “Gift of Moses and Judith.”

In September 2018, two student dormitory buildings were inaugurated near Reichman University, comprising 500 apartments, most of them single units. In August 2021, a third building was established. Today, a total of 750 housing units are offered, in which Israeli students live alongside international students.

Reichman University is home to more than 30 community service projects, some of which were set up at the initiative of students, in collaboration with the university administration. As an educational institution that emphasizes the values of freedom of action and responsibility for the community, entrepreneurship and excellence, Reichman University encourages students to volunteer in the community alongside their academic studies.

The Student Union was founded in 1997, and is the representative body of students at the university. It is a member of the National Union of Israeli Students. The Union is non-partisan, and its representatives are elected annually via secret ballot, according to the study tracks. The chairman of the Student Union and their deputy are elected by all the students on campus, in direct and secret elections. Every student studying at the university is entitled to be a member of the Student Union. Membership involves a fee, and gives students the opportunity to benefit from all the Union’s services, as well as the right to vote and be elected to its institutions. The bulk of the Student Union’s budget comes from the annual membership fees paid by its student members. The Student Union has a financial company, fully owned by it, called Ogen. The company was established in 2008, with the aim of adding a layer of professionalism and efficiency to the Student Union’s financial conduct, while improving the quality of its services and events.

IDC Radio 106.2FM operates under the auspices of the educational radio stations, and broadcasts from School of Communications studios. The station is operated by students from all schools, graduates, and faculty, in collaboration with professionals from the communications industry. The students work in all areas of radio – broadcasting, producing, editing, and the technical and musical sides. IDC Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, mainly talk programs on a variety of topics. On weekends, programs are broadcast in English in cooperation with students from the Raphael Recanati International School. Moreover, in 2012, IDC International Radio was established, producing and broadcasting English content in various fields such as music, culture, news, innovation and sports, from the perspective of students from around the world who are experiencing Israel for the first time.

Tuition at Reichman University is not subsidized and is the highest among the Israeli educational institutions. At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, the annual undergraduate tuition fee was NIS 42,100, except for certain undergraduate tracks in which the tuition fee is higher, standing at NIS 43,100. Reichman University set as one of its goals the admission of students who meet the academic admission requirements, but who find it difficult to pay the tuition fees due to financial hardship. One in six students at the university receives financial assistance. Among other things, Reichman University offers financial aid scholarships, scholarships for candidates with proven leadership and entrepreneurial potential and a history of community service, and merit scholarships for candidates with outstanding achievements.

The Debate Club of Reichman University is a framework designed to provide the qualifications necessary in the field of speech and rhetoric. In 2012, the debate team of the Raphael Recanati international school won second place in the European Championships in Belgrade. It was the only team from Israel to reach the final (in the category of “English as a second language”).

In 2012, Reichman University won first place for women's basketball, first place for men's beach volleyball, first place men and women's windsurf and second place for debate.

Reichman University is ranked 76–100 in political science in the Shanghai Ranking of world universities.[44] In overall world university rankings, Times Higher Education places it in the 601–800 bracket.[45]
