Jagadbandhu Institution (listen ) is a school for boys in South Kolkata, West Bengal, India, affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education for Madhyamik Pariksha (10th Board exams) and to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education for Higher Secondary Examination (12th Board exams).

History

Jagadbandhu Institution is a Bengali medium of South Kolkata. The school was established by Jagadbandhu Roy in 1914 at 25 Fern Road, Kolkata-19.[1] Ashutosh Mukherjee The first president and vice-president of the school were Asutosh Choudhury and Rai Bahadur Ramtaran Banerjee.[2] The first secretary was Rajendra Bidyabhusan and Murlidhar Bandhopadhaya.[3] The school first was started in the 2 storied rented house of Dhanballavh Seth, 2 Ekdalia Road,Kolkata.The second address of the school was very near to the first one, near Ekdalia Road and Cornfield Road. Jagadbandhu Roy had gifted the building. There was also a hostel in it. Ashutosh Mukherjee laid the foundation stone on the 2nd building. In 1920, Calcutta Improvement Trust decided to directly connect Rosa Road and Ballygunge Junction railway station. The authorities decided to abolish the school building. Till 1929 the road was known as Main Sewer Road, then renamed to Ballygunge Avenue. In 1931, the road was again renamed after Rashbihari Ghosh, now Rashbehari Avenue. For this development, the school building was demolished and after a court case against Calcutta Improvement Trust, Calcutta Improvement Trust build the 4th and permanent building on 25th Fern Road. In this intermediate state school was started in the rented house of Naren Mitra's house. In 2014 the school celebrated its Centenary year.
