Kax River

Kax River[1] or Kashi River[2] (Chinese: 喀什河), also known as Kash River,[3] is one of the three major tributaries of Ili River[4] and its basin hydro energy development is invested and developed by Guodian Group.[5] It originates from the northeastern foothills between the Tianshan Mountains and Yilian Habirga Mountain (依连哈比尔尕山, abbreviated as Yi Mountain).[6]

Overview

Kax River has its origin in the northeastern foothills between the Tian Shan and Yi Mountain. It joins with the Tekes River and the Gongnaisi River, enters the territory of Kazakhstan and finally flows into Lake Balkhash. The river has a total length of about 290 kilometers and a catchment area of 8,656 square kilometers, [7] with an average annual runoff of about 3.87 billion cubic meters.
