Kochuveli Terminal –Mangaluru Junction Antyodaya Express is a superfast express train belonging to Thiruvananthapuram division, Southern Railway zone that runs between Kochuveli and Mangaluru Junction. It is being operated with 16355/16356[2] train numbers on bi-weekly basis.[3]This train is the first stainless steel train of India which has not been given a paint job.This train was introduced to cater to the long standing demand of the people of North Kerala for a fourth train to the capital as all other trains were running to the full and tickets were hard to get by.The train initially intended to run daily,Runs only two times in a week.There were widespread protests when the train didn't stop at Tirur,Kasaragod,Alappuzha thus questioning the basic need of this train.Several MLAs had also blocked the train at Kasaragod demanding stoppage of the train at Kasaragod.The train which could have been run daily lies idle in Kochuveli Terminal even though people have been demanding to run it daily as North bound passengers still face difficulty in getting a ticket.The train has an excellent timetable.
