Lulu Mall, Thiruvananthapuram is one of the largest shopping mall in India situated in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, India.[2] The mall is owned by LuLu Group International and is developed by Sobha Limited.[3] It is occupying with a built up area of 2,000,000 sq. ft (1,85,800 m2).[4] The shopping mall is located along the side of National Highway 66 at Aakkulam. The mall has, 300+ national and international brands and 12 anchor stores including the Lulu Hypermarket which is one of the largest hypermarkets of the country spread across 18,500 m2 ,the largest indoor entertainment zone in the country, a multilevel car parking space for more than 3,800 cars with traffic management systems like ANPR. It also has the largest food court in the country with a capacity for 2500 people serving with various regional, international and specialty cuisines. The Mall have 12 screen Superplex category Multiplex with the first 4DX theatre in Kerala[5] by PVR cinemas.

History

Initially LuLu Group International planned to construct a relatively smaller mall in Pattom, Trivandrum with an investment of 500 crore (US$66 million).[6] But later they bought the 46 acres land in Aakkulam and made the decision to build the largest mall in the country with a projected budget of 2,000 crore (US$270 million) project.[2] The construction was started in August 2016 and will be opening for public from 17th December 2021.[7] It will be inaugurated by Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan, the honourable Chief Minister of Kerala in the presence of H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the honourable Minister for Foreign Trade United Arab Emirates on the 16th of December 2021.[8]

Description and features

Lulu Mall, Thiruvananthapuram is a four-level retail and leisure destination. Upon entering the mall, guests are welcomed by a visually-striking atrium which connects the mall’s four levels. Guests can navigate through mall in a closed organic loop enjoying a sequence of double height retail frontage focal points, each being connected yet represented by their own defining characteristics. The mall aims to become a favourite meeting place for families living in the area. Great emphasis has been put on the use of natural elements and natural light, making the mall a porous environment, which uses the latest and most sustainable environmental concepts. An abundance of green space flows in to the mall, creating a calm and welcoming environment, as well as an effortless natural flow from outside to inside.
