Maléna (Armenian singer)

Arpine Martoyan (Armenian: Արփինե Մարտոյան; born 10 January 2007), known professionally as Maléna (Armenian: Մալենա), or Maléna Fox, is an Armenian singer-songwriter.[1]

Career

Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Maléna tried to represent Armenia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018, taking part in the Armenian national final with the song "Par", placing 8th in the semi-final.

She was set to represent Armenia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Why", but the country withdrew from the contest due to the ongoing war in Nagorno-Karabakh.[2] She was again selected the following year to represent Armenia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Qami Qami" ("Wind, Wind" in Armenian),[3][4][5] composed by Tokionine and written by Vahram Petrosyan, Tokionine, Maléna & David Tserunyan.[6] On 12 December 2021, she became the favorite of the Wiwibloggs Jury vote.[7]

Collaboration with TKN

Since 2020, Maléna has been collaborating with the Armenian TKN label, where she works with the producer Tokionine, who has also composed the song “Walking Out” that Srbuk represented Armenia with in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv.[1]

Personal life

Maléna is the daughter of actress Anna Manucharyan.[8] She studies at the Sayat Nova Music School in Yerevan.[4]
