AFL career

He was drafted by Hawthorn Football Club with pick 50 in 2014 AFL Draft from the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup. He was the first of only two ruckman drafted that day. A solidly built teenager when drafted, Hawthorn needed an additional ruckman after trading Luke Lowden to Adelaide.[1]

Pittonet primarily played for Box Hill Hawks (Hawthorn's reserve's team) in the VFL and made his AFL debut against Geelong in Round 1, 2016 as a late change.[2]

Pittonet continued to develop his game at Box Hill, as he is seen as a backup ruckman for Ben McEvoy and Jonathon Ceglar. He played three games in 2018. He was probably the best on ground during the 2018 VFL Grand Final in which Box Hill defeated Casey.

After managing 2 games for the senior team in 2019, he requested a trade to the Carlton Football Club due to their shortage in ruckmen.[3][4] He was eventually traded to Carlton along with pick 61 in the 2019 draft for picks 54 and 63.[5][6][7]
