Matías Soulé Malvano (born 15 April 2003) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as midfielder or forward for Serie C Group A club Juventus U23.

Club career

Early career

Soulé started playing football for Véléz.[1][2] Soulé refused the proposal to sign a professional contract.[1] In January 2020, he moved to Juventus as free transfer.[3] Soulé scored five goals and five assists in 30 appearances with under-19s in the 2020–21 season.[4]

Juventus

Soulé made his unofficial debut for Juventus on 24 July 2021 in a 3–1 preseason frendly win against Cesena; scoring also the third goal in the 64th minute.[5] On 10 September, Juventus' first-team manager Massimiliano Allegri, included Soulé, alongside U23 team-mates Koni De Winter and Fabio Miretti, in the match-day squad for the Serie A game against Napoli, set to be played on 11 September.[6] On 24 September, he extented his contract with Juventus until 2024 with option until 2026.[7] On 14 October, Soulé scored two goals in a friendly match with the first team against Chieri.[8] On 30 November, Soulé made his official debut for the first team in a 2–0 win against Salernitana coming on as substitute in the third minute of the stoppage time.[9]

Juventus U23

On 22 August, Soulé made his official debut for Juventus U23 — the reserve team of Juventus — in a 3–2 win against Pro Sesto in the first round of Coppa Italia Serie C.[10] On 15 September, Soulé scored his first two goals in his career in a 3–2 win against Feralpisalò in the second round of Coppa Italia Serie C.[11] On 24 October, Soulé missed a penalty in a 1–1 draw against Pro Sesto in the fifth minute of the additional time.[12] On 7 November, Soulé scored his first goal in Serie C in a 1–0 win against Lecco through a curling shoot in the 43rd minute.[13]

International career

Soulé made three appearances for Argentina U16.[2]

On 3 November 2021, he was called up for the senior national team ahead of the qualification rounds for the 2022 World Cup against Uruguay and Brazil;[14] without being fielded and benched in either match.[15]

Style of play

Soulé is a left-footed midfielder and a right wing. He is good at dribbling, assists, in free kicks. He is also compared to Angel Di Maria.[16][17]

Personal life

Soulé has the Italian passport.[18] Soulé considers Independiente his favourite team and Lionel Messi is favourite player.[3]
