Mohapatra
Mohapatra, pronounced [mɔhapat̪ɾɔ], is a family name in India mainly of Brahmins. Usually, given to persons from the later Vedic Age and was normally gifted as an honor for "serving to the country with constant and highly leadership oriented efforts". They were constantly served with utmost respect in society even from other Brahmins, and were frequently awarded extraordinarily prestigious awards. From the beginning, Mahapatra and Mohapatras also belong to the Brahmin caste, also it was a title awarded to Brahmin classes during the monarchy rules but now it is also used by Khandayat, Gopal to hide their original caste from the society and different castes in the same way Sharma is also used by Lohars, other than Brahmins. That justified their caste, which is why unknowingly, some Mohapatras/Mahapatras were classified into totally different sub-castes. Mahapatras are mostly native to Indian states of West Bengal and Odisha.
