The area is an arid plain between the Flinders Ranges and the highway and south of Lake Torrens, and exhibits some salt flats. The nearest settlement is Quorn, South Australia.[6]

Mt Arden summit lays along the Heysen Trail and has an elevation 820+ metres AMSL.
