Neethikkupin Paasam

Neethikkupin Paasam (transl. Law First, Affection Next) is a 1963 Indian Tamil-language legal drama film, directed by M. A. Thirumugam. The film stars M. G. Ramachandran, B. Saroja Devi and M. R. Radha. The film, produced by Sandow M. M. A. Chinnappa Thevar, had musical score by K. V. Mahadevan and was released on 15 August 1963. The film was a super hit at the box office and ran for more than 100 days. The film was remade in Telugu as Thandri Kodukula Challenge.[3]

Plot

Gopal is an honest lawyer who holds law and order above family and emotions. He meets a simple village girl named Gauri and falls in love with her. But trouble brews in the form of Muthayya, who sets his wicked eyes on Gauri. To marry Gauri, Muthayya murders her father Sivasamy and Gopal's mother is framed for the murder. Struggling between family and justice, can Gopal save his mother? Will he triumph in his love?

Reception

Kumudam gave the film a negative review, playing on its title by saying "நீதிக்­குப் பின் பாசம் பாதிக்­குப் பின் மோசம்" (Neethikkupin Paasam is bad in the latter half).[6] T. M. Ramachandran of Sport and Pastime, however, reviewed the film more positively, praising the performances of Ramachandran and Saroja Devi.[7]
