Nico Schlotterbeck

Nico Schlotterbeck (born 1 December 1999) is a German professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Bundesliga club SC Freiburg and the German national team.[2][3]

Club career

SC Freiburg

Schlotterbeck made his professional debut for SC Freiburg on 9 March 2019, coming on as a half-time substitute for Philipp Lienhart in the 2–1 home win against Hertha BSC.[4]

Union Berlin (loan)

On 31 July 2020, Schlotterbeck joined Union Berlin on a one-year loan.[5]

International career

He got his first call up to the senior Germany squad for World Cup qualifiers in September 2021.[6]

Personal life

Schlotterbeck is the nephew of former professional footballer Niels Schlotterbeck, who also played for Freiburg.[7] His older brother, Keven, is also a professional footballer who played the 2019–20 season at 1. FC Union Berlin on loan from SC Freiburg, to which he returned for the 2020–21 season. [8]
