Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko (【推しの子】, "Favorite Girl" or "My Idol's Child") is a Japanese manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump since April 2020, with its chapters collected in six tankōbon volumes as of November 2021.

Premise

A doctor and his former patient are reincarnated as their favourite idol's children and they each work to make their way into the entertainment world, following in her footsteps.

Oshi no Ko is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump since April 23, 2020.[1][2] Shueisha has collected its chapters into individual tankōbon volumes. The first volume was released on July 17, 2020.[3] As of November 19, 2021, six volumes have been released.[4]

On February 10, 2021, the 11th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump revealed that the series will do a collaboration with Miki Yoshikawa's A Couple of Cuckoos.[5]

The series has been licensed in Indonesia by M&C!.[6]

Reception

By April 2021, the manga had over 1 million copies in circulation.[11]

Oshi no Ko ranked #11 on Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga of 2021 for male readers;[12] it ranked #7 on the 2022 list.[13] The series ranked #4 on the "Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2021" by the Honya Club website.[14][15] The series ranked #13 on the 2021 "Book of the Year" list by Da Vinci magazine.[16]

Oshi no Ko was nominated for the 14th Manga Taishō in 2021 and placed 5th with 59 points.[17][18] In August 2021, Oshi no Ko won the Next Manga Award in the print category.[19]
