List of postal codes in the Faroe Islands
The postal codes in the Faroe Islands, used by the postal service Posta, consist of the country's code "FO" followed by a three-digit code, e.g. FO 927 Akrar. Previously, the Islands formed part of the Danish postal code system using the 38xx range and the prefix "FR", for example, FR 3800 Tórshavn.[1]
In the Faroese language, names of locations are inflected and can stand in dative on addresses, like: FO 927 Økrum (akrar means acres; if someone lives "in the acres", he is living in whom? - thus dative). However, this is not relevant for letters from abroad, but may be interesting for philatelists.
